Instagram has increased the time per reel to three minutes. Earlier Instagram had a limit of 90 seconds per reel. Now with this update, users can create long-form funny skits. Apart from this, you will also be able to collaborate with top brands to earn more revenue. Instagram Reels is getting a new video update for users that will be on par with YouTube Shorts and tackle the TikTok ban.
Instagram introduced the reel feature in 2020, in which one could post content up to 15 seconds. But after some time it was increased to 60 seconds and in 2022 to 90 seconds. Instagram introduced a major update after TikTok was banned in the US. Now, users get support for longer video uploads. Earlier, users were limited to videos up to 90 seconds, but now they can share content up to three minutes long.
The main aim of Instagram’s update is to give creators more flexibility to tell their stories and create immersive experiences for their audience. With the future of TikTok uncertain, Instagram has announced that the platform is doubling the length of Reels. "In this new update, users can now upload and share three-minute Reels to their Instagram account. We've historically allowed Reels up to 90 seconds long, as our focus was on short-form video.
However, we've received feedback that this length is too short for people who want to share longer stories. According to Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, this update will help users. In the recent past, Instagram has introduced several new features that work to further improve the user experience on the platform. In this, users can add nicknames for themselves or friends and personalize names in DM.
These nicknames will only be visible in DM chats and will not change the original username anywhere else on Instagram. Users can share their live location for up to an hour, which is another notable feature. They can also pin a location on the map to coordinate their activities or find each other in crowded places. Live location can only be shared privately in DM, such as in 1:1 or group chats.
The live location will automatically expire after one hour. Instagram has made this update in response to creator feedback, which was one of the most requested features. In this, users will be given more opportunities to tell their stories. This change doubles the previous limit and aims to provide creators more space for creative expression.
